Today’s churches require more than a gift, a desire and a call. They require leadership. And contrary to popular belief, leadership can be learned. And, if you’ve been given the gift of leadership, those skills need to be honed and developed.
In the same vein, churches are organizations and organizations need administration. Good church administration can make the difference between a ministry that operates in excellence and runs smoothly where everything is done decently and in order as opposed to one that operates on a whim, has no known plan or direction, and simply relies upon faith to make things happen. Faith is essential, but faith without work is dead. (James 2:26). Administration is the work.
